My Busted Stones

The retaining wall is 95% done. Sadly, a general rule states that the last 5% of the work will take about 95% of the time. Using that rule of thumb, my wall should be done approximately the same time global warming is remedied by Bush's environmental policies. I finished the last layer of blocks and I am currently in the process of finishing up the cap stones. Funny story about these cap stones...

So the wall I am building has a corner in it and they don't sell cap stones that have the correct surface finish on two sides to be used for corners. so what I have to do is break my own cap stone and make it the right length and then it will have the rough surface finish. The general procedure for this is to score the brick/stone along the line you want to break it, then chisel it out a bit on the line, and then smash it until it breaks. I tried this today, and after my 15 minutes of scoring and chiseling (I thought I did a damn good job), i hit the brick hard with another brick and it broke along some line that was no where near where I wanted it to, and was about 45 degrees off of square. thankfully, I have one extra so I will have to consult the experts tomorrow, aka guys at work, and then give it a whirl another night. I am so close to finishing, I can taste it. mmm tasty brick. it looks like I have a castle in my back yard.

so I have been dealing with soreness in my right ankle for the past month (first blogged about it on may 14th). I am wondering if I should take some time off (maybe a couple weeks) from running and maybe just let it recover and then start training for the fall season. I would hate to miss a couple weeks of training cuz even after a couple days of not running, I feel I am losing fitness, feel energyless, and I am quite grumpy. I might wait until after the double trouble to see how it feels... if it is still sore maybe I will do a couple weeks of biking or something. we will see...
