My First Track Workout in 8 Years

This morning I got up at 6 o'clock to run my first track workout in about 8 years (senior year in high school... yes I am old). The track workout went a bit like this: ran a 1 mile warmup, then ran 2 fast 800's (going for 3:00 per 800) with 800 m jog in between, then I ran 2 400's (going for 1:30) with a 400 m jog in between, then I cooled down for a .25 mile. All told, 4.25 miles. even though I only did 4 legs at a fast pace, I am already feeling the soreness in my legs. which I guess is a good thing. I don't know if my 6:00 minute mile pace was reasonable, for my speed but i got pretty close on all of them... within 10 seconds I think. maybe next time I will try to get a couple more 800's in or shorten the rest period or something. i should really look into how to properly do track workouts for my racing goals.

i forgot to get my additional blocks for the wall today... so depending on what tomorrow morning brings, I might pick them up then and finish it up (looks like the weather isn't going to cooperate so much). but I do plan on enjoying my freedom from class (turned in the final project wednesday night... yay!) this weekend. this will involve sleeping in and not doing anything and it will be glorious!!
